NAG Partner - MaplesoftNAG and Maplesoft (formerly Waterloo Maple), two of the world's leading providers of mathematical software, are continuing to develop their technology partnership. The aim of the alliance announced in 1998 is to draw on the respective strengths of the two companies, breaking new ground in the technology of computation and making those advances available to wider audiences. The first tangible result of the relationship was the launch of Release 6 of Waterloo Maple's flagship product, Maple, in 2000, which embodies a number of significant technological enhancements, not least new functionality based on NAG numeric components that dramatically speed up computation in the key area of linear algebra. In June 2001 Maple 7 was released with improved numerical efficiency in its LinearAlgebra package and with greatly sped up numerical integration and large-integer arithmetic, improvements which come from incorporated NAG routines. Since 2001 Maple has had several releases with the most recent being Maple 10. With this release Maple has continued to incorporate NAG routines to further enhance numerical efficiency. The two industry leaders will now collaborate to integrate respective numerical algorithms. Upon completion, users will be able to solve a significantly greater range of mathematical problems at state of the art speeds. A number of articles and success stories are highlighted below:
